This page shows my work in academic and professional writing. Some pieces were first written for class papers, but all have been substantially revised and edited outside of the classroom. Other pieces were created in a strictly professional environment, some intended to appear in a print medium and others in a digital medium. All of the work here is presented in Adobe PDF.

Truthful Fiction
This piece was created in response to Carole Maso's The Art Lover, and it combines creative and academic writing styles. To explore the different stylistic elements that Maso uses, I mimic them in a creative piece of fiction, which is woven into an analytical examination of those elements. Employing some of the same stylistic decisions of Maso allowed me to look at her novel as both reader and writer and allowed me to provide a fuller analysis of her work.

Loleeta
This piece showcases a close reading I did of a two-paragraph passage in Vladimir Nabokov's Lolita. Specifically, it discusses how the Humbert Humbert, the narrator, fails at his attempt to distinguish his love for Lolita as separate from his love for Annabel.

Graphic Design Wiki Article
This piece was written for a wiki through the Michigan State University Writing Center. The article was written to be used by both consultants and clients at The Writing Center, though due to a staffing change, the entry was never included. I have formatted the piece as if it were on the Internet, highlighting the terms I intended to be future links in blue. The citation style used is MLA.
